Encuentro de la Oceanografía Física 2018. 0262_MARRISK_1_E (Vigo, 20-22/06/2018)

 

O "Encuentro de la Oceanografía Física 2018 (EOF 2018)" terá lugar no "Auditorio Mar de Vigo" entre os días 20, 21 y 22 de junho de 2018.  O evento será organizado por as universidades de Vigo, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria e Aveiro, o Consejo Superior de Investigaciones científicas (CSIC) e o Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO). Este encontro supõe, tanto a nível nacional como internacional, uma importante oportunidade para a comunidade da Oceanografía Física Espanhola e Portuguesa.  Além deste, o VI Simposio Internacional de Ciencias del Mar (ISMS 2018) é outro dos congresos que decorreram em paralelo, e cuja inscrição está inclui na mesma.

Este abstract faz parte dos meios de difusão do Projeto MarRisk, co-financiado pelo Fundo Europeo de Desenvolvimento Regional (FEDER) através do Programa INTERREG V-A España-Portugal (POCTEP) 2014-2020.

"The potential of the RAIA coastal observatory for detecting the influence of the Miño River outflow in the Ría de Vigo is proved using several oceanographic tools. Freshwater intrusion is evaluated using a combination of meteorological, dynamic and hydrographic data obtained from several buoys-platforms, hydrographic cruises, and the HF radar system of the Ría de Vigo.

Several episodes between 2010-2015 were analysed under a high Miño River discharge, favourable wind patterns, and northward subtidal current calculated from a RDI ADCP installed at A Guarda Buoy. Simultaneously, surface salinity gradients obtained from the Cíes Buoy, the weekly INTECMAR CTD cruises, and the Rande platform were used to detect low salinity at the South Mouth of the Ría de Vigo. The objective of this comparative analysis is two-fold: i) track the freshwater influence coming from the Miño River outflow toward the Ría de Vigo and ii) assess the quality of salinity data obtained from Cíes YSI-sonde.

This study reflects the lack of simultaneity of data can sometimes be overlooked when not all oceanographic devices are working at the same time. However, it also highlights the need for more concerted efforts to avoid the absence of data management of this coastal observatory."
